Discover the latest new features and updates to the TAO platform. Take a look at what we’ve been working on across TAO Core, Ignite, Pro, and Enterprise this month.
TAO Core
The following updates have been released to the TAO open source community.
- The ability to add horizontal rulers while authoring items and passages has been added.
- A new REST API endpoint that enables users to retrieve delivery execution information was added.
TAO Ignite & Pro
The following updates are being released to TAO Ignite & Pro between September 13th and September 21st, 2022.
Authoring Updates
- A problem was fixed regarding items using a Choice Interaction with a single choice defined, where the items were inadvertently saved as expecting multiple test-taker responses.
- The ability to add horizontal rulers while authoring items and passages has been added.
- An issue that led to an invalid QTI item when attempting to add an image to the body of a Gap Match or Hottext Interaction was fixed.
- The usability when defining the order for a Graphic Order Interaction has been improved whenever choosing and then deleting the order.
- The ability to include image captions had been added to any image while authoring items and passages. The HTML tag <figcaption/> is also used in this case for accessibility purposes.
- An issue was fixed with File Upload Interaction so that audio or video media now use the full width available.
- A new “Copy to” functionality was added for Items and Assets classes, allowing users to copy the entire contents of a class to another location together with the metadata (as long as the same metadata schema exists in the destination) and ACL (Access Control List).
Delivery Updates
- New REST APIs have been added to allow updating a delivery execution with the Proctorio “suspicion level” when using this remote proctoring integration.
- A new REST API endpoint that enables users to retrieve delivery execution information was added.
TAO Grader Updates
- The option to include manual grading in online assessments has been added through the addition of TAO Grader, which is only available in TAO Ignite, Pro, and Enterprise subscriptions.
- The reassign functionality for scoring assignments in TAO Grader has been improved by no longer including the original Scorer in the list of eligible Reviewers.
TAO Advance Updates
- The ability to restart a delivery for a given test-taker has been added by using the custom LTI parameter “deliverySetting.reset: true”. This is done exclusively when starting a delivery via an LTI 1.3 link and will allow deleting the previous responses and starting over fresh with a new delivery execution.
- When publishing a test in TAO Advance, any inline assets embedded in the items will now be automatically published to a Content Delivery Network (CDN) for improved performance during the assessments.
- A problem with the loading indicator was fixed whenever a test-taker session was forcibly closed by a proctor using TAO Advance & LTI 1.3.
- The ability for a test-taker to insert an image when using the Extended Text Interaction (in rich-text mode) has been added. On iOS devices, the functionality allows the test-taker to take a picture using their camera and then use it in the interaction.
- A counter for the number of typed words in the Extended Text Interaction has been added for easier tracking by both the test-taker and the reviewer.
- The capability for Android devices to view PDF files embedded into interactions has been added.
TAO Insights
- New ways of capturing and exporting results are now available through the addition of TAO Insights, which collects and aggregates testing data from various sources into a consolidated datastore for dynamic reporting access. The connection will be possible through an API with a paid TAO Insights hosting package. Contact us to learn more.
